Raichur: A fire broke out in the office of the Basaveshwara Circle branch of Union Bank in the city early Thursday morning, reportedly due to short circuit.
The passersby are said to have noticed the smoke emerging from the locked office and immediately informed the fire brigade. While the staff of the fire brigade rushed to the spot, the manager arrived and opened the branch door only half an hour later, by which time, the fire had spread. As a result, two air conditioners had blasted and furniture had been gutted by the fire.
Divisional Fire Officer (DFO) Ravindra Ghatge, Fire Station Officer Raju, Assistant Officer Narasappa and personnel DK Srinivas, Nasir, Narasimhalu and Devaraj worked at dousing the fire.
