Kundapur: A tragic incident unfolded off the coast of Gangolli near Kundapur on Tuesday morning when a fishing boat capsized due to rough sea conditions, leaving three fishermen missing and one rescued.

The mishap occurred near Gangolli's seawalk area, where a fishing vessel carrying four fishermen overturned amidst high tides. The missing individuals have been identified as Suresh Kharvi, Jagannath Kharvi, and Rohith Kharvi. Another fisherman, Santosh Kharvi, was rescued by a nearby boat, according to initial reports.

The boat, reportedly owned by Suresh Kharvi, had set out for fishing earlier in the day. Midway into the expedition, turbulent waves caused the boat to capsize. Santosh Kharvi managed to swim to safety and was later pulled aboard another fishing vessel in the vicinity. However, the remaining three fishermen remain untraceable as of the latest update.

Coastal police and the Coastal Security Force have rushed to the scene and initiated search operations. The fishing boat is said to have sunk, resulting in damages worth several lakhs of rupees.

Authorities continue to search the area in hopes of locating the missing fishermen.

Ranchi (PTI): Four minors were detained for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at a birthday party in Jharkhand’s Ranchi, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place on March 31 within the Namkum police station limits. An FIR in this regard was lodged on April 16 based on the girl’s statement, they said.

“All five, including the victim, were friends, and the girl had gone to attend the birthday party of one of those detained. At the party, the accused consumed alcohol and allegedly raped her,” said Ramnarayan Singh, the officer in-charge of Namkum police station.

“The four, aged between 15 and 17 years, have been detained and the medical examination of the girl is underway,” Singh said.

Further investigation is underway.
