Hanur: The investigating team which has been investigating the food poisoning incident at Sulvadi Kichchugutti Maramma temple which claims 15 lives, found a breakthrough in the case. It is said that Ambika, wife of temple manager Madesh, has admitted before the police that the poison was mixed in the food as per the direction of temple trust president and Salur Mutt junior swamiji.
In the incident, total 15 persons have lost their lives and more than 100 persons fell sick and are undergoing treatment at Mysuru and Chamarajnagar hospitals. The condition of many people is said to be critical.
Taking the incident seriously, the police department has constituted various teams to investigate the incident. Already, the police have arrested more than 15 persons in the case and interrogated them. Now, Ambika, wife of temple manager Madesha, has admitted before the police that she has mixed the pesticide with the prasada as per the direction of the Salur mutt junior swamiji and temple trust president Immadi Mahadevaswamy, it is said.
The police have taken many people into custody and interrogating them. Now, the police have been trying to arrest the remaining suspected in the case. The police may produce Trust president Immadi Mahadevaswamy, manager Madesh, his wife Ambika, priest Mahadeva and others before the court on Wednesday.

Mumbai (PTI): Police have arrested a man and seized over 500 grams of heroin worth Rs 2.54 crore in the illicit market from him in Mumbai, officials said on Friday.
The police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) made the drug seizure in Santacruz in the western suburbs. The operation was conducted by the Kandivali unit of the ANC on Thursday as part of a special crackdown against drug trafficking in the area, they said.
Acting on specific inputs, an ANC team conducted a raid in Santacruz (East) and intercepted a man. During a search, the team recovered 508 grams of high-grade heroin from his possession, an official said.
The seized contraband, a highly addictive, opioid drug derived from morphine, is estimated to be worth Rs 2.54 crore in the international market, he informed.
Following the seizure, a case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and he was formally placed under arrest in the early hours of Friday.
The police are currently investigating the source of the drug and trying to identify the intended recipients of the consignment, he said.
