Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Senior BJP Leader Basavaraja Bommai on Friday alleged that the cases of crime in the state have surged by 30% in the past nine months, and that the state government was not initiating any stringent measure to crackdown on the increasing rate of crime.
Addressing the media, he further accused the state government of not taking any drought relief measures. “The CM claims that the financial condition of the state is good. On that account, the state government should have released grants for drought relief, construction of school buildings and developmental projects. Three thousand crore rupees were approved for the welfare of the Kalyana Karnataka region, however no grants have been released.”

“Party workers were being used to implement guarantee schemes. However, after coming to power he (Siddaramaiah) forgot the workers. In order to appease the agitated workers, they are giving the posts by violating constitutional norms, and are doing corruption openly,” he added.
