Bengaluru, Feb 3: Former Karnataka Minister D Manjunath died at a private hospital here on Monday after prolonged illness, family sources said.
He was 93.
Belonging to the Dalit community, Manjunath who joined the Janata Party in 1977, had served in different capacities including as Chairperson of Legislative Council and Minister in various governments.
Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and his predecessor H D Kumaraswamy condoled the death of Manjunath.
Yediyurappa said Manjunath was a humble and gentle politician.

Bengaluru (PTI): A passenger was held with hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 3.89 crore upon his arrival from Bangkok at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, they said.
“Bengaluru Customs intercepted a passenger arriving from Bangkok and seized 11.11 kg of hydroponic ganja, valued at Rs 3.89 crore, concealed in checked-in baggage,” Bengaluru Customs said in a post on X.
The identity of the person has not yet been disclosed.
Further investigation is underway.
