Kalaburagi: A woman and her two sons were electrocuted while the woman’s husband was grievously injured as they stepped on an electric wire in Dhangar Galli in Chincholi town of the district on Saturday night.

The victims have been identified as Jharanamma (45), Mahesh (18) and Suresh (20). Ambannani, Jharanamma’s husband, is undergoing treatment, the police said.

Following heavy wind and showers on Saturday night, an electric line got disconnected from a pole in Dhangar Galli.

An electric wire had also fallen on the rainwater stagnant in the front yard of the victims’ house.

The rain intensified late at night and the family decided to shift the cattle in the cowshed to a safer place. The couple and their sons suffered an electric shock as they stepped on the puddle on which the wire had fallen, and the mother and sons died on the spot.

Chincholi Police have registered a case and are investigating.

Mumbai, May 10 (PTI): Amid heightened security concerns in the country, the Sai Baba temple trust at Shirdi in Maharashtra has decided not to allow garland, bouquets and shawls to brought inside the temple complex.

The famous temple which draws millions of devotees every year had received a threatening email last week.

Goraksh Gadilkar, a member of the Sai Baba Sansthan Trust, said devotees will be searched before entering the temple.

"The Sansthan received a threat email on May 2. In view of India-Pakistan tensions and the security alert across the country, flowers, garlands, prasad and shawls will not be allowed inside," he told PTI.

The Ahilyanagar district police have also made some suggestions to enhance the security of the temple.
