Gadag: Belagavi Northern Range IGP N Satish Kumar on Sunday issued suspension orders of Police Inspector Nandeshwar Kumbara over charges of alleged dereliction of duty during the recent riots that took place in Naragunda.
Nandeshwar has been charged for failing to execute his duties during the riots between two parties in Naragunda in Gadag district recently.
Naragunda has remained in headlines since early January this year due to the communal tensions which were further fuelled by the murder of Shameer Shahpur who was attacked and killed by a mob.
Another youngster Shamsher Khan was grievously injured in the incident. Four people including a Bajrang Dal leader were later arrested in connection with the murder case.
CPI Nandeshwar also allegedly lagged in carrying free and fair trial of both riots and the murder case and was under fire from all quarters when his suspension orders were issued on Sunday.
