Bengaluru, June 13: It was came to light in the SIT interrogation that Parshuram Wagmore, one of the main accused in the Gauri Lankesh murder case, got the training in country-made pistol in Vijayapura.

The case has got different turn after the arrest of the Parashuram. The SIT officials, who got Vagmore into their custody for 14 days, got information about the case. It is said that being a member of the Sangh Parivar, Wagmore was trained in country-made pistol shooting.

Tiger Gang?

It is suspected that the Tiger Gang, which was known for its notorious supari (contract) killings in Vijayapura and other parts a decade ago, might have active in the region. After the death of Tiger Gang leaders Praveen Sintre and Nagaraj Jambagi, its activities were stopped. But based on the information given by Parashuram, the SIT suspected that the Tiger gang was active in the region and now, the SIT is running behind active and inactive members of the gang, sources said.

Sri Rama Sene support

Amidst these developments, Sri Rama Sene state secretary Neelakantha Kandagal posted a status in the Facebook supporting Parashuram Vagmore. Along with the photo of Vagmore, Kandagal posted a slogan ‘Your life is dedicated to country’ and this has disclosed the relationship between Vagmore and Kandagal.

CCTV footage

SIT officials have been checking the footages of CCTV cameras in and around RR Nagar where Gauri was living. It is said that the accused have mentioned in their diary that ‘Gauri Lankesh is 5.4 ft height and the gate of her house is 5 ft height’.

Arrested accused Wagmore had a shelter at a house belonging to Suresh at Sunkadakatte in Bengaluru and Naveen helped Waghmore. It is also said that the accused have also planned to eliminate rationalist thinker KS Bhagavan.

Country-made pistol

Suspecting that the country-made pistol used to kill Gauri is with someone, the SIT officials intensified their investigation. But they have failed to come to a conclusion about who has that pistol and where it is kept. Sources said that the SIT officials are finding it difficult to get a break-through in the incident as they did not get any information on the bike the accused used while killing Gauri.

Bail plea

Meanwhile, accused KT Naveen moved a bail plea in the Sessions Court, it is said.

The SIT has also taken Sunil Madivalappa Agasara (25) of Sindhagi into custody and interrogated related to journalist Gauri Lankesh murder case and got some information.

Though Sunil does not have link with any other organizations, he has close relationship with Parashuram. So, he was taken into SIT custody and interrogating about his links with the incident.

Hindu organization leader Naveen Kumar KT was under the judicial custody and other five accused were taken into SIT custody, according to a senior officer.

Bengaluru (PTI): Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday expressed confidence that the ruling Congress will secure a decisive victory in the Assembly bypolls scheduled for April 9 in the Bagalkote and Davanagere South constituencies, citing a favourable ground response to the party’s guarantee schemes.

These are ‘Shakti’, ‘Gruha Lakshmi’, ‘Gruha Jyoti’, ‘Yuva Nidhi’ and ‘Anna Bhagya’.

The bypolls were necessitated by the demise of sitting Congress MLAs Shamanur Shivashankarappa and H Y Meti, who represented Davanagere South and Bagalkote constituencies, respectively.

The Congress has fielded Shivashankarappa’s grandson, Samarth Shamanur, in Davanagere South and Umesh Meti in Bagalkote. They are locked in direct contests with BJP candidates T Dasakariyappa and Veerabhadrayya Charantimath.

“Both Bagalkote and Davanagere are very positive. Congress workers are doing an excellent job, going door to door and convincing people about the guarantee schemes,” Shivakumar told reporters here.

He said even voters who had earlier supported the BJP were now inclined towards the Congress.

“Even those who voted for the BJP earlier are saying they will vote for Congress. People want the guarantees to continue and are expressing difficulties due to rising prices,” he said.

Expressing confidence of an improved electoral performance, he added, “There is a strong sense that we will win with a bigger margin than before.”

Shivakumar also said he would travel to Kerala for two days and resume campaigning thereafter. “I am going to Kerala for two days. After returning, we will continue the campaign from Davanagere,” he said.

Referring to the shortage of LPG, including auto LPG, in the state, Shivakumar blamed the BJP-led government and called for immediate intervention by the Centre.

“The LPG shortage is due to the BJP. Auto drivers and those in the transport sector are facing difficulties,” he claimed.

“This is something the central government has to address. It must formulate proper policies and take precautionary measures,” he said, adding that the BJP should apologise to the public.

“They should come forward and apologise to the people for the inconvenience caused and resolve the issues they have created,” he said.
