Bengaluru, June 13: One of the sketches of suspected killers of Gauri Lankesh, released by the SIT, has a close resemblance with Parshuram Waghmore, arrested in the case, it is said.

When Gauri was killed on October 14, 2017, the SIT chief BK Singh, investigating officer Anucheth and others released the sketches of the suspected killers and those sketches were considered as the major tips in the case. Moreover, the SIT officials also released the sketches of two suspected and appealed to the general public to give information about the accused, for which a mobile number and email ID were given, besides announcing Rs 10 lakh prize money. Now, the SIT officials have established the similarity between the sketch and Parashuram, sources said.

Interestingly, the investigating officials have asked an artiste to draw the sketches manually instead of using computer thinking that the accused might be between the age group of 25 and 30 years. Now, one of those sketches and arrested Parashuram have close resemblance. The SIT officials also collected information about the eyewitnesses on the accused. Based on the statements of the locals and 10 seconds footage recorded in the CCTV camera at Gauri’s house, the sketches were prepared.

‘I am Gauri killer’

It is said that Parshuram Wagmore, who is under police custody, is admitted that he has killed Gauri Lankesh. But he did not respond to the questions about inspiration, pistol and motorbike and SIT officials declined to respond to this issue, sources said.

Bareilly (UP), Nov 24: Three people died when their car fell into the Ramganga river from a partially constructed bridge here on Sunday, police said, adding that they suspect the driver was misled by its navigation system into taking the unsafe route.

The accident occurred around 10 am on the Khalpur-Dataganj road when the victims were travelling from Bareilly to Dataganj in the Badaun district, they said.

"Earlier this year, floods had caused the front portion of the bridge to collapse into the river, but this change had not been updated in the system," Circle Officer Ashutosh Shivam said.

The driver was using a navigation system and did not realise that the bridge was unsafe, driving the car off the damaged section, the police said.

There were no safety barriers or warning signs on the approach to the damaged bridge, leading to the fatal accident, Shivam said.

Upon receiving information, police teams from Faridpur, Bareilly and Dataganj police station rushed to the spot. They recovered the vehicle and the bodies from the river, Shivam added.

The circle officer said that bodies had been sent for post-mortem. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
