Bengaluru, Aug 23: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today said that the Governor has sent back 15 Bills yielding to pressure from the BJP.
Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence, he said, “If the Governor takes decisions based on what suits the BJP, why do we need governments in democracy? If there are questions on the Bills, we are there to respond. I appeal God to give good sense to the Governor.”
Asked if there was an attempt to bring down the government, he said, “The efforts to bring down the government will not succeed. We are not going to sit quiet watching these attempts, we do it takes to stop that.”

Asked why the Congress party, which opposed allocation of lands to Jindal in the past, has allotted land now, he said, “Karnataka needs employment and it is possible only when industries come to the state. We have allotted the land as per the prevalent industrial policies. We have not issued any new lands but have given the sale deed for the land which was to be allotted to Jindal long ago.”
Asked about Home Minister Parameshwar’s visit to Delhi, “He has his department’s work and party’s work. How we can we decide about his travel. We also have work in Delhi and hence we are going together.”

Nagpur (PTI): A student was killed and several students and teachers were injured as the bus carrying them to a picnic spot overturned near here on Tuesday morning, police said.
The accident took place when students and teachers of Saraswati High School in Shankar Nagar area here were heading for a picnic spot in neighbouring Wardha district in five buses.
One of the buses, with some 50 persons on board, overturned near Deoli Pendhari village on Hingani Road in a hilly section on the outskirts of the city, said an official of Hingna police station.
The deceased boy was a Class 7 student, he said, without disclosing the name. A girl and a teacher sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, Nagpur, while others were taken to a nearby rural hospital.
Investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident, police said.
