Gundlupet: Man killed over minor dispute, accused arrested
Chamarajanagar: A 36-year-old man was brutally killed in Gundlupet on Monday night following a scuffle over a minor issue. The incident occurred near Maddaneshwara School when the victim, identified as Shivu, a resident of Old Hospital Street in Gundlupet town, had reportedly gone out to buy alcohol.
According to sources, two youths confronted Shivu and picked a quarrel with him. In the altercation that followed, the accused allegedly assaulted him with a stick and stones, inflicting serious injuries to his chest, face, and ear.
After returning home and informing his family about the incident, Shivu was rushed to Gundlupet hospital around 11 PM. Doctors declared him brought dead.
His body was later sent to the Chamarajanagar Government Medical College for postmortem examination.
Acting immediately, Gundlupet police arrested the accused, identified as Nizamuddin. Security has been tightened in the town to prevent any further unrest.

Puttur rape case: BJP leader’s son, victim, child undergo DNA test; blood samples sent to B'luru FSL
Puttur: Blood samples of the son of a local BJP leader, Shrikrishna J Rao, who has been arrested for raping and impregnating a classmate after promising to marry her, along with those of the victim and the child, were collected on Tuesday to conduct a DNA test.
Rao, who is under judicial custody, was presented before court on Tuesday. The victim also appeared in court with her mother and the child. The blood samples were collected by the medical staff of the Puttur Government Hospital in the presence of the judges and taken to the Forensic Sciences Laboratory, Bengaluru by Women Police personnel.
The victim and her mother are also learned to have travelled to Bengaluru with the police personnel.
The test report is expected to be out in a week’s time. The chargesheet, however, has already been submitted before the court.
The arrested youngster, who is the son of PG Jagannivas Rao, BJP leader of Puttur unit, is accused of having wooed the victim into having a sexual relationship with him with a promise of marriage, but refused to marry her on learning that she was pregnant.
While Rao was arrested and sent to judicial custody, the victim gave birth to a male child on June 27.
