Mysuru: In the background of reportedly being denied a crop loan, a farmer consumed insecticide at the bank in Hosaholalu village in Antarasanthe hobli on Monday afternoon in H D Kote taluk.

The farmer who ingested the poison has been identified as Ningegowda (73), a resident of Hosaholalu village. He was admitted to K R Hospital in Mysuru after he became severely ill, following the incident.

Ningegowda, who reportedly owned a four-acre land, had applied for a sugarcane crop loan at the Karnataka rural bank in Antarasanthe village. After a month, when the bank notified him that his application for a crop loan was being denied on grounds of low CIBIL rate, Ningegowda became disheartened and consumed poison in an attempted suicide on the bank premises.

A bank employee immediately telephoned Ningegowda’s son and informed him of his father’s condition. Later, a severely ill Ningegowda was admitted to the government hospital in H D Kote, where he was given primary treatment and shifted to K R Hospital in Mysuru for further treatment, it is learned.

Amaravati, April 15 (PTI): The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approved the allocation of 21.16 acres of land to TCS in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, at a token lease price of 99 paise.

The land, located on IT Hill Number 3, will be used by the tech giant for an IT campus, where TCS is expected to invest Rs 1,370 crore. This project is set to generate 12,000 jobs.

"Cabinet approved the allocation of 21.16 acres of land to TCS at Visakhapatnam IT Hill Number 3 for setting up an IT campus to generate 12,000 jobs," stated an official press release.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved a proposal from Mahamaya Industries Ltd to expand an integrated steel plant in Vizianagaram, among other matters.
