Shivamogga, Jan 27: A three-and-half year-old girl who was playing nearby burnt alive when a haystack caught fire accidentally at Thorabailu village near Konandur in Thirthahalli taluk on Saturday.

The deceased girl has been identified as Artha, daughter of Ramesh and Jayalakshmi. Ramesh is working in Bengaluru. When the incident happened, her mother Jayalakshmi has gone out for labour work. The girl was playing with his brother 7-year-old Dhananjay near the haystack when the accident occurred.

The haystack accidentally caught fire and the girl burnt alive in the flames before the neighbours rushed to rescue her. Agumbe police registered a case.
