Bengaluru, Feb 5: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed the hearing of a case against MLA Lakshmi Hebbalkar by Gundlupete JMFC Court related to violation of election code of conduct during Gundlupete Assembly constituency by-election.

Admitting the petition filed by Lakshmi Hebbalkar seeking dismissal of the case at a lower court, the Single Judge Bench of the High Court dismissed the hearing.

Accusing that Hebbalkar had offered money to the voters at Annurkeri village in the assembly, YN Abhishek Kumar of BJP lodged a complaint with the election officer. Based on the complaint, the Gundlupete police registered a case and completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet against the MLA at the JMFC Court on July 8, 2017. The hearing was going on in the Gundlupete JMFC Court and Lakshmi Hebbalkar moved the High Court seeking dismissal of the case.
