Bengaluru, June 13: Based on a statement of the complainant, the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday dismissed an FIR filed against senior journalist Agni Sridhar at Yelahanka police station. The FIR was filed against Sridhar that he has threatened the complainant with dire consequences.

The Single Bench of the High Court headed by Justice KN Phanindra heard the petition filed by Agni Sridhar seeking dismissal of the FIR as his name was unnecessarily included in the case. After complainant Tata Ramesh submitted a written statement to the Bench saying that he has given complaint with a wrong belief and he does not have any animosity with Sridhar, the Judge dismissed the FIR filed against eight persons including Agni Sridhar and Onte Rohith.

About the incident

After a few days of the murder of Bengaluru North taluk APMC president Srinivas, Tata Ramesh lodged a complaint against Onte Rohith and others alleging that they have been threatening him. Following his complaint, Yelahanka police investigated the issue.

The police, who did not include the name of Agni Sridhar in the beginning of the investigation, have included his name while filing the charge sheet to the court. The police charged that Sridhar had given shelter to Onte Rohith and others who were facing murder threat case. Against this, Agni Sridhar moved the High Court. Hearing the case, the Judge dismissed the case based on the statement of the complainant.

New Delhi: A tragic road accident in Gurugram earlier this week claimed the life of young biker Akshat Garg after his motorcycle was struck by an SUV travelling on the wrong side of the road. Pradyuman Kumar, the victim’s friend, claimed that the police allegedly overlooked the critical evidence recorded on Pradyuman’s GoPro camera.

The incident occurred on September 15, 2024, on Golf Course Road, where Akshat was hit by Kuldeep Thakur, who was reportedly driving recklessly. Despite emergency services arriving soon, Akshat succumbed to his injuries.

"The police saw the recording, but they didn’t take it as evidence that day," Pradyuman told India Today. It wasn’t until three days later, after the accused Kuldeep Thakur had already been released on bail, that the police reached out to Pradyuman for the footage. He expressed deep frustration over what he perceives as negligence on the part of law enforcement in collecting vital evidence promptly.

Additionally, the publication reported that the accused has a history of traffic violations and that Thakur’s vehicle displayed a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sticker. The quick release of Thakur on bail has drawn criticism, particularly since the incident fell on a Sunday and Monday was a public holiday. Thakur is reportedly a co-owner of a company running social media campaigns for politicians.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
