Bengaluru: While HD Kumaraswamy had earlier said that he would be taking the oath as the Chief Minister at Kanteerava Stadium on Monday morning, now the swearing-in ceremony has reportedly been postponed.
It was almost confirmed that Kumaraswamy would be taking oath as Chief Minister on Monday. But as the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi is falling on Monday, most of the Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi would not be able to participate in the swearing-in ceremony. In this regard, Kumaraswamy and Congress leaders talked, and HDK agreed to postpone the oath-taking program to Wednesday. Now, Kumaraswamy is scheduled to be sworn-in as Chief Minister on Wednesday.
However; on Wednesday, only Kumaraswamy and Dr. G. Parameshwara will take oath as the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively. After proving the majority, cabinet ministers will be taking the oath. All these processes will take 4 to 5 days until then both the parties have been instructed not to allow their respective MLAs to leave the hotel.
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah has been elected president of the Congress-JDS's new government coordination committee. All the major decisions of this government are expected to be taken in this committee. It has been reported that the new government will have 17 to 20 Congress ministers and 13 to 15 JDS ministers.

ISLAMABAD: At least two more cases of poliovirus were reported in Pakistan, taking the number of infections to 52 so far this year, a report said on Friday.
“The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan," an official statement said.
The fresh infections — a boy and a girl — were reported from the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
“Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway," the statement read. Dera Ismail Khan, one of the seven polio-endemic districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported five polio cases so far this year.
Of the 52 cases in the country this year, 24 are from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
There is no cure for polio. Only multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine and completion of the routine vaccination schedule for all children under the age of five can keep them protected.
