Chitradurga: The headmaster of the Government Higher Primary School, Jodichikkenahalli, in Chitradurga taluk has been suspended by the Deputy Director of the Department of Public Instruction (DDPI), following an incident of acid splash on a girl from Class 2 in the school.
On Wednesday, the students were cleaning the toilets in the school, when the incident occurred. The student was injured in the back and is being treated at the Chitradurga District Government Hospital.
The locals have a filed a complaint with the Rural Police that Rangaswamy, the headmaster of the school, splashed acid on the girl. The Rural Police officers filed an FIR against the headmaster, based on the complaint by the locals and the DDPI has suspended Rangaswamy.
The Block Education Officer (BEO) of Chitradurga, Nagabhushan, however, has countered the allegation of the locals, stating that the injury to the girl was accidental. "The headmaster is being accused of throwing acid on the girl as the teaching staff members at the school do not have a good relationship with the headmaster. The acid fell accidentally on the girl, who has recovered after being treated at the hospital," the BEO has said.
