Belagavi/Bengaluru, August 22: Due to heavy rains in Western Ghats range in Maharashtra, 13 villages in Khanapur taluk in Belagavi district in Karnataka have lost connectivity with other parts of the taluk.
The Mahadayi river is in spate due to heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats. As a result, roads connecting several villages in the taluk were submerged and literally, some villages have become islands. As the roads were disconnected, people have been carrying the patients to the hospitals on their shoulders. Residents of Gavali village have carried a woman and crossed the river to reach Khanapur government hospital.
Due to heavy rains, temperature level was dropped to lowest level. As a result, women, children and aged people have become sick and people were finding it difficult to take them to the hospitals.
