Karwar: Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalikatti on Tuesday evening declared holidays to all schools and PU Colleges in the district on July 5 owing to the heavy rainfall across the district since Monday.

The DC issued an order on Tuesday evening directing schools and PU Colleges in the district to remain closed on July 5, as a precautionary measure.

With this, all the three Coastal districts of the state that are on Red alert till Wednesday morning have declared holidays to schools and PU Colleges for July 5, Wednesday.

Belthangady: Two youngsters lost their lives after a bike lost control and rammed into a tree in Naravi’s Kuthlooru area of Belthangady taluk late Friday night.

The deceased have been identified as Prashanth and Dinesh. According to reports, the incident occurred around midnight while they were returning from an event. The accident took place near Purusha Gudde on the Kokrady-Naravi road.

Venur police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
