Raichur: Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his comment on corruption in Karnataka under the Congress rule, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday asked Mr Modi to come clean on alleged multiple crore increase in business fortunes of BJP president Amit Shah's son Jay Shah.
Addressing an election rally as part of his Janaashirwada Yatra in Raichur, Mr Gandhi said Mr. Modi has no moral right to speak about corruption by sitting aside BJP's chief ministerial candidate B.S. Yeddyurappa who went to jail in alleged corruption case.
“You (Mr Modi) speak about corruption in Karnataka but (you are) silent about huge increase in business fortunes of Amit Shah's son Jay Shah,” Mr. Gandhi said. Unlike previous BJP regime, the Siddaramaiah government is scam-free, he added.
Moreover, four (former) ministers went to jail and 11 resigned during previous BJP regime in Karnataka for various reasons including corruption, Mr Gandhi said.
Hitting out at Mr. Modi’s “lopsided development model,” Mr. Gandhi claimed while China provides jobs to 50,000 youth per day, the Modi govt provides jobs only to 450 youth per day.
Mr. Modi has no answers to huge unemployment and farmers distress problems, he alleged.
