Badami: Congress leader Siddaramaiah has declared that he would adopt Badami constituency if the Congress won the Assembly elections this month and regained power in the state.
“I will adopt Badami and implement development schemes in the constituency,” Siddaramaiah, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, said in Badami, addressing a campaign rally for Congress candidate from Badami, Bheemasena Chimmanakatti, on Tuesday.
The senior Congress leader told the people of Badami that, being an elected representative of the constituency, he would remain so till the end of counting of votes, and added, “Even after the Congress comes back to power in the state after winning the elections, I will work for you along with Chimmanakatti.”
Speaking to reporters after the campaign, Siddaramaiah said, “While V Somanna has been challenging my efforts for the people of Varuna constituency, where I am contesting this year, we have only heard claims of ‘Acche Din’ for the people, from both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. We have not witnessed any development works by the BJP.”
With reference to the party campaigns, Siddaramaiah said that it was not merely the BJP that had ‘star campaigners’, adding, “The Congress had stars like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and the National President of the party Mallikarjun Kharge campaigning in Karnataka for the party.”
