Bengaluru: Expressing anger over the statement of Gokak MLA Ramesh Jarakiholi that he has sent his resignation through fax, Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar said, "I am a Speaker and not a postman".

After verifying the resignation papers of Vijayanagar MLA Anand Singh at his office in Vidhana Soudha here on Tuesday, the Speaker said, "I am not working in postal department to receive resignation sent through fax. Ego or status will not work here. Only norms will work", he added.

"The MLA should mind their language while speaking to media. I am the Speaker of this House. This position is above all and sacred. I am a small person to sit on this chair. When I am here, no one should insult that position and it's my concern", he said.

" I would bow my head before the Constitution. This is a matter of the House. We should not behave like beasts. Whatever the decisions we have to take, we should take them under the law. Except Anand Singh, no MLA has given me resignation papers. I would complete this process as I did when Umesh Jadav resigned from his position", Speaker Ramesh Kumar added.
