Bengaluru: Bengaluru South’s Constituency’s Congress candidate B K Hariprasad on Sunday said that he was not entitled to respond to other’s criticism and that his fight is to save constitution and against reservations.
Speaking at a media conference organized by the Bangalore Press and Reporters' Association on Sunday, he said that the country was going into its second freedom movement.
“BJP candidate who will contest against me has not criticized me nor has he made any personal attack on me. Neither have I done so” he said.
“My fight is to save constitution, save democracy and constitutional institution. BJP candidate from Uttara Pradesh says that if Modi wins this election, there will be no election in this country again. This clearly puts democracy in danger. They want to bring dictatorship in the country and we need to fight against this”.
“I was asked to contest from Bengaluru south to contest against PM Modi as it was being said Modi will be contesting from this constituency. But later Modi did not contest from here. I was to contest from Khammam, I had been to file my nominations from there. But Congress high command called me back from there and asked me to contest against Modi here”
“Saying that BJP has eradicated terrorism from the country will be stupidity. If terrorism has eradicated under BJP then why attacks like Pathankot Air base, Uri Attack and latest Pulwama attack wouldn’t have happened” asked who was responsible for these attacks former minister blamed Modi and said “Modi goes to Pakistan upon the invitation of its PM and eat Biryani there, he invites Pakistan’s PM for his swearing-in ceremony. Nobody knows which class he belongs to”.
Speaking about the developmental plans he will bring in if he wins the election, Hariprasad said “My dream is to bring back the old glory of this city. I will construct four parks in four corners of the constituency excluding Cubbon Park and Lal Bagh. We are already working in this regard. Another major problem in the city is that of drinking water, we have plans of constructing a dam at Mekedatu to resolve this issue of drinking water. We will try and get help from Central government for this project”.
Challenging PM Modi to face media through a press conference on his achievements Hariprasad added “PM Modi is scared to come infront of media and addressing a press conference because he has failed all his promises he made before previous election. I challenge him to address media for 15 minutes in a press conference on his achievement in last five years. For 15 minutes he will blame Nehru family, for next 15 minutes he will blame Congress government and for another 15 minutes he will speak about soldiers, army and other emotional topics”.
Speaking of Congress JD(S) coalition he said “I have good relationship with JD(S) supremo HD Devegowda. I also got his blessings. Looking at the condition of this constituency, people have assured me of victory here and our party’s base is also quite strong in the constituency so I am confident of winning from here”.

Bengaluru: The Adani Group has become the lowest bidder for both packages of the proposed 16.75-km tunnel road project in Bengaluru, according to sources familiar with the bids opened by Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd (B-SMILE).
According to a report published by Deccan Herald on Monday, the government estimated the entire project to cost Rs 17,698 crore, while the Adani Group has quoted Rs 22,267 crore. The ports-to-power conglomerate’s bid is about 24% higher for the first package and 28% higher for the second than the government’s estimates, a gap that could prompt authorities to seek the state Cabinet’s approval on the tenders’ fate.
M Maheshwar Rao, Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), who is also the Managing Director of B-SMILE, declined to comment.

In all, four infrastructure companies had participated in the tenders for the project, which has been proposed under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, with 40% funding from the government and the remaining investment to be raised by the private concessionaire.
During the technical evaluation, the Adani Group and the Hyderabad-based Vishwa Samudra Engineering Ltd qualified for the financial round.
According to the report, Dilip Buildcon was disqualified due to a clause that bars firms linked to collapsed bridges or tunnels, while Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) was rejected because its joint venture (JV) partner did not meet technical requirements.
With only two companies left in the fray, the Adani Group emerged as the lowest bidder, ahead of Vishwa Samudra.
The tunnel project officially named the North–South underground corridor, is part of the Congress government’s ambitious to ease Bengaluru’s traffic congestion by building two major underground roads (totalling 40 km) along with 13 flyovers and elevated corridors.
The project is the brainchild of Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, who is also the Bengaluru development minister.
The proposal, however, has faced criticism and political opposition, especially from senior BJP leaders, who object to the alignment that requires acquiring six acres of Lalbagh Botanical Garden, a historic green space.
As per the report, Urban mobility experts have also warned that the tunnel corridor may clash with the alignment of Namma Metro’s Phase 3A, possibly affecting the metro expansion.
