Hubballi: Karnataka Labour Minister Santosh Lad has claimed that internal discussions are being held among Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders regarding the need to replace Prime Minister Narendra Modi due to concerns over the state of India’s economy but they are extremely afraid to speak publicly about the Prime Minister’s leadership.
Lad, who recently visited New Delhi, suggested that discussions within the saffron party were centered around the possibility of replacing Modi with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, as reported by Deccan Herald on Thursday.
Lad noted that there is a "suffocating" atmosphere within the BJP, where leaders do not have the freedom to speak about Modi and his failures.
Referring to comments made by veteran politician Subramanian Swamy, who recently stated that Modi lacks knowledge about the economy and questioned his suitability for leadership, Lad pointed out the BJP's silence on these remarks. "Why don't the BJP leaders counter Swamy? They are silent because they know what he is saying is right. BJP leaders had supported Swamy when he spoke against Sonia Gandhi," Lad was quoted as saying by DH.
The minister also raised concerns about the lack of transparency surrounding the stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, accusing the NDA government of withholding data. "NDA stands for ‘No Data Available’," he remarked, adding that the Prime Minister is doing ‘aarti’ throughout the day while failing to address the country’s pressing issues.
He further questioned why the GST rates had not been reduced, which would have benefitted everybody. Lad stated that guarantee schemes were also a part of the government’s development vision, adding that the Congress had allocated more funds to all sectors compared to the BJP.
