JDS is no longer a secular party: Siddaramaiah
Karwar: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, “JDS is no longer a secular party, as it has been quite some time since they abandoned principles of secularism. The JDS party of the past that existed during our times no longer exists now”, he expressed.
He was responding to the questions raised by the media while speaking at the press conference in Karwar on Monday.
Responding to the media’s questions regarding Renukaacharya’s visit to the courts to stop a defamatory video from being broadcasted, Siddaramaiah said, “Why is Renukaacharya simply assuming his videos could come out? He must have indulged in unlawful, immoral activities and gotten caught. There are so many politicians. However, why are all of them left alone and only Renukaacharya, Sadananda Gowda’s videos taken? Their story is akin to that of a thief, whose heart is always jumpy”, Siddaramaiah said.
“Bharatiya Janata Party’s people make claims that they are possessors of great culture. They behave in a manner to showcase that nobody possesses such culture, conduct. But in reality, nobody is as obscene as them.”
“BJP is the party of the corrupt, their government is a corrupt government. If Yediyurappa was not corrupt, why would he have to step down from the Chief Minister’s position? If crossing certain age was the real reason, then hasn’t it already been 2 years since he crossed 75? Why was he silent all this time?” he questioned.

ISRO launches Mission MITRA for safety of human spaceflight mission crew
Bengaluru (PTI): ISRO on Friday said it has undertaken mission MITRA in Leh, Union Territory of Ladakh, from April 2 to 9, a first-of-its-kind team behavioural study for the benefit of human spaceflight missions such as Gaganyaan.
The mission, inaugurated by the ISRO chairman V Narayanan, was mainly for the crew safety and performance.
"Mission MITRA is a first-of-its-kind team behavioural study designed by ISRO and IAF-Institute of Aerospace Medicine to examine the physiological, psychological, and operational dynamics of Crew and ground teams functioning in a high-altitude environment," ISRO said in a statement.
This study is targeted to generate vital understanding on the team interoperability between crew (Gaganyatris) and ground control teams and the effectiveness of decision making under environmental & operational stress, the space agency said.
Noting that the crew safety and performance are the most critical elements of all Human Spaceflight Missions, ISRO said the ability of the crew to communicate effectively, adapt to stress, maintain psychological resilience and support one another determines the success and safety of any mission.
Analogue missions conducted under controlled yet realistic conditions are utilised to understand how crews perform under challenging conditions, it added.
The space agency said the high altitude of approximately 3,500 meters at Leh having the environmental conditions of hypoxia, low temperature, and isolation, is a natural analogue for spaceflight operations.
