Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has directed BJP MLC N. Ravikumar to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation into the case pertaining to his alleged derogatory remarks against Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner Fauzia Tarannum.

The directive came during a hearing on a petition filed by Ravikumar seeking the quashing of the FIR registered against him at the Station Bazar police station in Kalaburagi. The FIR was lodged following controversial comments made by the legislator, which were widely criticized and deemed defamatory.

During the proceedings, the state government informed the court that Ravikumar would not be arrested if he extended full cooperation with the investigation. Taking note of this assurance, the High Court instructed the BJP leader to assist the investigating authorities accordingly.

The court also observed that if an apology is extended to the Deputy Commissioner and she accepts it, a statement to that effect should be submitted before the bench through a sworn affidavit. The matter has been adjourned for further hearing.
