Bengaluru: Kannada actor and social activist Chethan Ahimsa stirred controversy with a post on his official social media account, advocating for reservations in Indian cricket. In the wake of India's loss to Australia in the World Cup 2023 finals, Ahimsa attributed the defeat to the absence of reservation in cricket.

On his 'X' account, Ahimsa stated, "I repeat that India needs reservation in cricket. Had there been reservation in Indian cricket, we would have easily won this World Cup." The post triggered strong reactions on social media, with users expressing criticism and disbelief over the actor's demand.

India faced a 7-wicket defeat against Australia in the World Cup finals held in Ahmedabad on Sunday. However, the connection Ahimsa drew between the outcome of a cricket match and the need for reservation sparked widespread disapproval.

Social media users questioned the logic behind linking cricket performance to reservation policies, with one user expressing frustration, stating, "We are in grief, why are you making things worse with this?" Some comments suggested that the actor's demand lacked sense, while others criticized the statement as baseless.

Critics also pointed out that Ahimsa's call for cricket reservations seemed unrelated to the actual dynamics of the sport. Some users went further, questioning the actor's understanding and suggesting that such statements only served to create unnecessary controversies.

New Tehri, Sep 29: A man-eating leopard killed a three-year-old child after picking him up from outside his house here while he was playing with his cousins, with officials saying his mutilated body was found in bushes nearby.

The officials said the incident happened at Purwal village around 5 pm when Ankit Kumar's son Raj Kumar was playing in the courtyard of the house with his maternal uncle's children.

Bhilangana Range Officer of Tehri Forest Division Ashish Nautiyal and Purwal village head Sanjay Tiwari said the child stepped out while playing and went behind the house where a leopard was already sitting in ambush.

The animal picked up the child and dragged him away.

Not finding her son around in the house, Manju Devi started searching for him. Later, her neighbours also gathered there, but the child could not be found.

Meanwhile, somebody noticed blood stains on the road behind the house.

The blood stains led people to the bushes from where the child's mutilated body was recovered, the officials said.
