Bengaluru: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has successfully implemented a mobile-based AI authentication system to combat the issue of fake candidates appearing for exams.

This technology, developed by KEA’s engineering team, was tested during a four-day recruitment exam on Saturday for vacant positions, including computer operators, in the Legislative Council, as reported by The New Indian Express.

The innovative system works by capturing photographs of candidates as they enter the exam hall through a mobile app. These images are instantly verified against the photographs submitted during the application process. The system, connected in real-time to KEA’s servers, confirms the authenticity of the candidates before they are allowed to proceed with the exam, the report mentioned.

KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna highlighted the system’s success in preventing impersonation, ensuring that only genuine candidates could take the exam. On the first day of implementation, 74 candidates appeared in the morning session, and 267 participated in the afternoon session, TNIE added.

Following the positive outcome, KEA plans to extend the AI-based verification system to other exams.
