Bengaluru: Congress MLA from Vijayanagar Vidhan Soudha Constituency Anand Singh on Monday has sent his resignation to the speakers according to the reports doing round in political circle.
Speaker Ramesh Kumar however partly denied the reports and added that he has not received resignation of Anand Singh yet and has no information about any such development.
If the reports of his resignation are true then it is expected to be a big blow to the Congress party who is struggling to balance the coalition government in the state with JD(S) post Lok Sabha Elections. Singh is also likely to resign from party’s membership and join the BJP according to reports.
Singh was on the MLA targeted by the BJP in ‘operation lotus’ when the saffron party tried to dismantle the coalition government by winning confidence of JD(S) and Congress MLAs. Singh was also assaulted by fellow Congress MLA Ganesh when the party had lodged all its legislators in resort to avoid ‘operation lotus’ of BJP. Ganesh was later arrested by the police.
The resignation is said to be in-line with Singh’s dissent over the Jindal issue on which he reportedly had difference with the government. CM Kumaraswamy is currently in America and is yet to react to the reports.
