Bengaluru: Karnataka on Wednesday reported 2062 fresh cases of Coronavirus, taking the total number of cases reported in the state so far to 28,877. The state also reported 54 deaths due to the deadly virus taking the toll to 416 in the state.
This is the first time the state has reported over 2,000 cases on a single day.
According to the latest health bulletin issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Bengaluru Urban reported 24 deaths, Dharwad 7, Bellary 4, Raichur 3, Hassan 3, Mysuruu 2, Tumkuru 2, Chikkaballapur 2, Vijaypura w and Dakshina Kannada, Bidar, Kalaburagi and Chikkamagaluru reported one death each between Monday 5 pm to Tuesday 5 pm.
Among the Districts that reported new cases on Tuesday are: Bengaluru Urban 1,148, Dakshina Kannada 183, Dharwad 89, Kalaburagi 66, Bellary 59, Mysuru 59, Bengaluru Rural 37, Ramnagar 34, Chikkaballapur 32, Udupi 31, Haveri 31, Bidar 29, Belagavi 27, Hassan 26, Tumkuru 24, Bagalkote 24, Chikkamagaluru 23, Mandya 20, Uttara Kannada 19, Davangere 18, Raichur 17, Shivmoga 17, Kolar 16, Yadgiri 11, Koppal 11, Gadag 5, Vijaypura 4, and Chitradurga 2.
Of the 28,877 cases reported so far in the District, 11,876 patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals including 778 on Tuesday. 470 patients have succumbed to the virus while there are 16,527 active cases in the state currently, the bulletin added.

Bengaluru (PTI): Two people were arrested at the Kempegowda International Airport here for attempting to smuggle hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 5.79 crore, upon their arrival from Bangkok on Wednesday, officials said
They seized 16.54 kg of hydroponic ganja, which was concealed in the checked-in baggage, the Bengaluru Customs said in a post on 'X'.
Both the accused were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, it said.
Meanwhile, the Customs officials at the Bengaluru Airport also disposed of 287.5 kg of Ganja (Hydroponic Weed) and 1.17 kg of Cocaine seized under the NDPS Act, 1985, in accordance with CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs) Disposal Manual on March 17, it said in another post.
