Bengaluru: Karnataka Government on Wednesday issued notification declaring public holiday on fourth Saturday of every month, weeks after the Cabinet approved the proposal of 4th Saturday holiday.

The proposal that will benefit over five lakh government employees was made by recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission.

The notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) also stated that the number of casual leaves per year for the government employees was reduced to 10 days which was earlier set at 15 days.

Schools and Colleges will be however excluded from this and will continue to run on fourth Saturday. All the other government departments will have holidays on fourth Saturday of every month.
