Bengaluru: In a twist of events, The Principal Secretary to the Government (Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms), Munish Maudgil on Friday in an letter to all Government Secretaries directed the immediate withdrawal of the order directing to provide information pertaining to RTI applicants seeking large amount of information during the quarter period. 

Accordingly, under the Right to Information Act, there is no provision to seek details of the applicants who have applied for information. All citizens have the constitutional right to freely access information under the Right to Information Act. However, the Information Commissioner had sought from the Karnataka Government to provide details of the RTI applicants. In response to which the state government had ordered all the departments to provide information pertaining to the applicants, which now stands withdrawn.

Kalaburagi: In an incident reported from Mahagaon in Kamalapura taluk on Wednesday, a 22-year-old farmer fell off a tractor when recording a reel and simultaneously driving the vehicle and died after he was run over by the tractor.

The deceased Lokesh Kallappa Poojary was a resident of Mahagaon and a tractor driver.

Poojary was reportedly ploughing the field, with one hand managing the steering wheel and another recording the reel on his mobile phone, when he lost balance, fell off the tractor and came under the wheels of the vehicles. He is said to have died on the spot as he was run over by the tractor.

The farmers in the nearby fields, who learned of the incident late, informed the police.

Mahagaon Police officers arrived at the spot and conducted an inspection. The officers have filed an FIR and are investigating.
