Bengaluru: In a move aimed at making movie tickets more affordable, the Karnataka government has issued a draft notification proposing a cap on movie ticket prices at Rs 200 across all theatres in the state, including multiplexes.

The notification stated that the cost of the ticket of each show in all theatres of the state, including multiplexes for all language films, shall not exceed Rs 200, inclusive of entertainment tax.

The state government has invited objections and suggestions regarding the draft from the public. Feedback will be accepted within 15 days from the date of the notification and should be addressed to the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Home Department, Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru – 560001.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced capping film ticket prices in the state budget for 2025-26.

Belthangady: Pranab Kumar Mohanty, Chief of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the mass burials case, visited Belthangady on Sunday, July 27, to inspect the newly set-up SIT office.

The SIT office has been set up in a newly constructed building adjacent to the Belthangady Police Station. Pranab Mohanty arrived directly from Mangaluru at around 6 PM on Sunday to review the office facilities and preparedness.

He was accompanied by senior SIT officials including Anucheth IPS, SP C.A. Simon, and other officers during the visit.
