Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Tuesday approved cash rewards for police personnel involved in the investigation of the rape case against former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and the probe into the Nyamati bank robbery, recognising their role in cracking the high-profile cases.
In the Prajwal Revanna case, a reward of ₹25 lakh was sanctioned for 30 police personnel who were part of the Special Investigation Team that conducted the probe. The proposal for the incentive was recommended by the SIT chief and was approved by Director General and Inspector General of Police M A Saleem, with the amount to be distributed among the officers involved.
A government order cited by The Indian Express, stated that the rewards were approved as a one-time special case, with financial authority delegated to the DG and IGP. A similar incentive was also cleared for personnel associated with the Nyamati bank robbery investigation.
Prajwal Revanna was sentenced to life imprisonment after the SIT established the charges through scientific, digital and forensic evidence, despite the alleged destruction of the iPhone used to record the assault. Investigators authenticated the explicit videos through forensic video analysis, voice sample examination and image superimposition. The footage was linked to the farmhouse where the crime occurred. DNA evidence like hair follicles and biological traces recovered from the survivor’s clothing, further supported the prosecution’s case.
The probe also relied on data extracted from Revanna’s Apple device, corroborative witness statements and forensic reports to establish that the videos had been recorded on the phone. The court accepted the prosecution’s submission that the device was deliberately destroyed to eliminate evidence and convicted Revanna for destruction of evidence in addition to the rape charges, noting that the videos were neither edited nor manipulated.
The government also approved a cash reward of ₹10.02 lakh for 83 police officers and staff involved in solving the Nyamati bank robbery case in Davangere district. The police were credited with arresting the suspects and recovering nearly all of the gold stolen from the State Bank of India branch during the October 2024 theft. Investigators recovered about 17 kg of gold ornaments worth around ₹13 crore, including a significant portion found hidden in a remote well in Madurai district, Tamil Nadu, following arrests made in March 2025.

The relations between India and the EU have been on an upswing in the last few years.
The EU, as a bloc, is India's largest trading partner in goods. For financial year 2024-25, India's total trade in goods with the EU was worth about USD 136 billion, with exports around USD 76 billion, and imports at USD 60 billion.
