Bengaluru, Nov 28: The Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday decided to upgrade 500 government schools as Karnataka Public Schools at an outlay of Rs 2,500 crore in four years.

For the purpose, the state government would borrow Rs 2,000 crore from the Asian Development Bank and contribute Rs 500 crore.

This project will be taken up from July 2025 to June 2029.

According to the Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil, there are 308 Karnataka Public Schools functioning in 204 Taluks of the state.

Belagavi: Lokayukta officials unearthed large quantities of gold, silver and financial assets during a raid on the residence of Ajaysingh Bapusingh Rajapur, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the District Urban Development Cell (DUDC), Deccan Herald reported.

During the search, officials recovered 5.96 kg of gold, 5 kg of silver ornaments, and documents related to fixed deposits worth Rs 3.12 crore. A luxury car and a bike were also seized.


The total value of his assets is estimated to be more than Rs 14 crore, with Lokayukta officials adding that the investigation into the officer’s disproportionate assets would continue.

The raid was conducted after a case was registered under anti-corruption laws. Lokayukta police raided seven locations simultaneously, including Rajapur’s house, office and bank.

Apart from movable assets, officials found that Rajapur owns three houses in Belagavi city, besides owning sites in Saundatti, Hukkeri and Hubballi.
