Bengaluru: A senior IPS officer who is also a Commandant of the Karnataka State Reserve Police has tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus creating panic among other personnel of the department. The officer tested positive for the virus on late Tuesday night.

The infected officer was reportedly staying in KSRP Housing in Austin Town in the city. No other personnel from his battalion has so far tested positive for the virus. And the authorities are still figuring out how he was infected by the virus.

The officer reported breathing problems and a sore throat three days ago. His swab samples were sent for COVID-19 testing which returned as positive. It is suspected that the infection might have transmitted through other personnel of the department.

The officer was rushed to Manipal Hospital in the city after testing positive for the virus. The office of the officer has also been sealed down after fumigation. His family members have also been sent to quarantine.

Bengaluru (PTI): Two people were arrested at the Kempegowda International Airport here for attempting to smuggle hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 5.79 crore, upon their arrival from Bangkok on Wednesday, officials said

They seized 16.54 kg of hydroponic ganja, which was concealed in the checked-in baggage, the Bengaluru Customs said in a post on 'X'.

Both the accused were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, it said.

Meanwhile, the Customs officials at the Bengaluru Airport also disposed of 287.5 kg of Ganja (Hydroponic Weed) and 1.17 kg of Cocaine seized under the NDPS Act, 1985, in accordance with CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs) Disposal Manual on March 17, it said in another post.
