Bengaluru: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has reacted sharply to the demolition of over 300 slum houses without prior notice by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) while reclaiming five acres of government land in Bengaluru.

He said the bulldozing of Fakir Colony and Wasim Layout, where Muslim families had been residing for years, has caused extreme shock and pain.

According to Pinarayi Vijayan, what was witnessed in Karnataka is another version of the aggressive, anti-minority politics implemented by the Sangh Parivar in North India. He said that an entire community has been forced onto the streets and compelled to flee in harsh cold conditions.

He further remarked that it is shocking that as the “North Indian model of bulldozer justice” makes its way into South India, its execution is being carried out under a Congress-led government in Karnataka.

Questioning the Congress, Vijayan said that administrators are expected to take the lead in providing shelter for the poor and ensuring that no one is evicted from their homes. He asked how the Congress intends to justify the use of force to carry out mass evictions instead.
