Kodagu Police nab man accused of killing 16-year-old fiancee from Somwarpet forest
Madikeri: The 32-year-old man accused of murdering his underage fiancée in Mutlu village of Somwarpet taluk before escaping from the place with her severed head was arrested in the nearby forest by the Kodagu Police late Thursday night.
Kodagu Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan has said that they held a search operation for the murder accused, Prakash, on Thursday night. The police team arrested him in the forest near the village, searching there on receiving the information that he was hiding in the forest. The severed head of the murder victim is yet to be found, said the officer.
Prakash had murdered 16-year-old Meena, who had completed SSLC this year and, as per local convention, was engaged to Prakash. Following an intervention by the Social Welfare Department officials, on finding that Meena was a minor, both families agreed to postpone the marriage. Prakash, who was greatly angered by this, attacked Meena's family and ended up beheading the girl.

Bengaluru: Bomb threat emails warning of 13 IEDs at DRDO unit turn out to be hoax
Bengaluru: A bomb threat email sent to a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) facility in the city on Monday was found to be a hoax after police carried out a thorough search.
The threat targeted the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), claiming that 13 cyanide gas-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) had been planted on the premises, with a warning of explosions at 1:10 pm.
According to police, the email, reportedly written in Tamil, also contained a threat to kidnap party leaders of Tamil Nadu.
DRDO officials received the email around 12 pm and alerted authorities.
"Baiyyappanahalli police along with bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot and conducted a search. The threat turned out to be a hoax," a police officer said.
Police have registered a case based on a complaint, and further investigation is underway.
