Tumakuru: Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameswara has welcomed the Karnataka High Court’s order upholding the state government’s decision to withdraw CBI probe against Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in disproportionate assets case.
The state government’s decision to withdraw the consent for the probe, initially granted by the previous BJP government, had resulted in political turmoil across the state, with BJP MLA Yatnal filing an interim petition before the High Court questioning the government's decision,on Tuesday.
Addressing reporters here at Siddhartha Medical College, the Minister asserted that, “ The High court has upheld the state government’s decision, that is what we wanted. The previous BJP government had committed a mistake by giving the case to the CBI.”
“We have withdrawn the case as the case was given by the previous government to the CBI without seeking permission from the speaker. We have communicated the government order to the high court,” he added, expressing happiness over getting relief.
