Bengaluru: Three individuals, including the vice-principal of a law college, have been arrested for allegedly leaking the State Law University’s main examination question paper on social media, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayanand said.

The arrested individuals include Nagaraj, the vice-principal of Basava Sri Law College in Kolar district, along with students Jagadish and Varun Kumar, the commissioner confirmed.

The first-semester Contract Law Part-1 question paper, scheduled for January 23 by the State Law University, had gone viral on Telegram and WhatsApp groups. Following this, university officials and Vigilance Division-2 officer Vishwanath K.N. lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police Station.

During the investigation, the Cyber Crime Police uncovered that the accused had used technology to collect information and leaked the question paper through Telegram groups. It was revealed that Jagadish, a student of the same college, had transferred the question paper from the mobile phone of Vice Principal Nagaraj to his own device. Further investigations showed that Jagadish was making money illegally by leaking the questions to examinees.

Another accused, Varun Kumar, a student of a law college in Bangarpet, Kolar district, had accessed the question papers that arrived at the college a day before the exam. Without anyone noticing, he copied the questions onto his mobile phone and leaked them online in exchange for money.
