Bengaluru, Jan 31: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has said that he needed time to examine the complete liquor ban in the state. He was speaking with anti-liquor protesters, led by senior theatre personality Prasanna.  

"The Chief Minister, who had initiated a ban on liquor and lottery in his previous term, has said that now coalition government is there. It is not possible to take decisions without discussing with the allies. Also, the GST has come into force, and the state government has limited opportunities for resource consolidation. It is also necessary to have a high-level discussion on this issue. Therefore, announcing the complete ban on alcohol all of a sudden is not possible. The time required to discuss its pros and cons, he clarified."

Bengaluru: The State Moon Sighting Committee has decided that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on March 21 across the state.

Meanwhile, in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Bhatkal , Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Friday, March 20, following the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon on Thursday evening.

The moon sighting marks the conclusion of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal, heralding Eid prayers and celebrations across the region.
