Shimoga: A loud mysterious noise in parts of Shimoga and Chikkamagaluru districts on Thursday night here shocked people. The noise was heard at around 10:15 pm.

Eyewitnesses to the incident also said the earth shook with the noise. Police department has reportedly added that it was an earthquake. The tremors were felt in Shimoga district, also known as Shivamogga district and parts of Chikkamagaluru district.

However, there are no reports of a recent earthquake in Karnataka on the National Center for Seismology (NCS) website or on the USGS site another platform that tracks tremors across the globe.

The noise was so loud that glasses in many houses were shattered. Several locals took to social media to express their concerns after the incident.
