Bengaluru, October 03: As Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar is undergoing treatment for a disease at a hospital at New York in the USA, he is not likely to contest the Lok Sabha election from Bengaluru South, sources said.
It is said that the BJP has been trying to find a suitable candidate in place of Ananth Kumar. But the BJP has not given any official statement about this so far.
“His health condition may not permit Ananth Kumar to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. But the party has not yet decided about the candidate in place of him”, a report said quoting a BJP leader.
BJP has been winning the Bengaluru South Constituency since 1996. As Ananth Kumar is undergoing a treatment in the USA, it is difficult for him to participate in the campaigning or contesting the election this time. In view of this, the BJP is trying to find a new face or fielding a member from the family of Ananth Kumar for the constituency, it is said.
