Madikeri, October 19: Two persons fired at canteen workers for questioning them for not giving the bill amount after having snacks in the city on Thursday night.
The incident happened on Market Road in the city. It is said that Lokesh and Akram have fired at canteen employees Riyaz (31) and Sameem (34). After getting the egg-roll, the accused asked for gobi. When the canteen employees asked them for the amount for egg-roll, the enraged accused went out of the canteen and fired three rounds at Riyaz and Sameem from the window of neighbouring bar. In the incident, both Riyaz and Sameem sustained injuries and were admitted to the district hospital.
The police who arrested the accused recovered a gun from them. The police also recovered the DVR of CCTV camera. Accused Lokesh was jailed on charges of firing at a house, and released recently, it is said.

Kolkata (PTI): A 68-year-old man was arrested from Kolkata on Thursday morning after fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with a face value of Rs 2.99 lakh were seized from his possession, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police apprehended the person from the Dharmatala bus stand area in the central part of the city, he said.
“Six bundles of FICN of Rs 500 denomination were seized from his possession. The person seems to be a member of a racket involved in fake currency note supply. A case has been filed against him and he will be produced in a local court later today,” he said.
The accused is a resident of Malda district, the officer said, adding that a probe into the matter is underway.
