Yellapur Police visited the spot immediately on being informed of the information.

Ranjitha, a divorcee, and Yallura are learned to have known each other for several years now and Yallura is also said to have been urging Ranjitha to marry him. Ranjitha, however, had not only been rejecting his repeated proposals but also stopped communicating with Yallura. Angered by this, Yallura met Ranjitha when she was returning from work on Saturday. Following an intense argument between the duo, Yallura allegedly slit Ranjitha’s throat with a weapon and escaped from the spot.

Yellapur Police, who searched for the suspect, found his dead body in the forest area.

Members of the Sangh Parivar called for a Yellapur Bandh on Sunday protesting against the murder of Ranjitha. As the members readied themselves at the Basaveshwara Circle in the city, however, they received the news of the police finding Yallura’s body in the forest.

Ranchi (PTI): A 60-year-old security guard of a temple in Ranchi was bludgeoned to death with a stone during a robbery attempt, police said on Saturday.

The incident happened late on Thursday at the Jagannath Temple in the Dhurwa Smart City area, they said.

"Three persons were arrested on Friday for killing the security guard. They confessed to the crime and told police that the victim had identified them. Therefore, in fear of being caught, they killed him by attacking him with a stone on his head," SSP Rakesh Ranjan said.

"Thereafter, they took money from the donation box and fled the scene. Two of them have criminal antecedents," he added.
