Chikkamagaluru: A 34-year-old woman, Nethravathi, was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband, Naveen in Hosalli near Aldur, reportedly following a demand for divorce by Nethravathi.

The deceased woman, said to have been a native of Havvalli village, married Naveen, a native of Sakleshpur, five months ago, but Nethravathi is learned to have returned to her maternal home barely five days after the wedding.

Their seniors tried to mediate between them and re-reunite the couple but their efforts went in vain as Nethravathi decided to get a divorce. Nethravathi also filed a complaint at Aldur Police Station three days ago, accusing Naveen of harassing her. A complaint was registered by the police.

Naveen was infuriated by his wife’s decision to divorce him and filing of police complaint against him, resulting in him stabbing Nethravathi with a knife fatally.

Nethravathi, who was grievously injured in the attack, was rushed to the Mallegowda Government Hospital in Chikkamagaluru city but reportedly died on the way.
