Bengaluru: In an incident reported from New Mico Layout a 24-year-old woman lost her life in a brutal incident of violence allegedly perpetrated by her lover. The horrifying incident unfolded on Saturday night in their rented residence.
The accused, identified as Vaishnav from Kollam, Kerala, was subsequently arrested on Sunday after he had fled the scene following the gruesome act.
The victim, identified as Deva S, hailed from Thiruvananthapuram. The accused, Vaishnav, is the son of an army officer. It is believed that Vaishnav suspected Deva of being involved with someone else romantically, leading to an escalating tension between the couple.

According to preliminary investigation reports, Vaishnav is said to have struck Deva's head three times with a cooker between 4 pm and 4:30 pm on the fateful day. The horrific incident occurred in their bedroom after Vaishnav had emptied the rice from the cooker onto a plate. The forceful blows with the kitchen utensil resulted in severe injuries, causing Deva's immediate death.
The tragic incident came to light when Deva's sister Krishna, tried to reach out to her through phone calls. Unable to make contact, Krishna sought help from neighbors to check on Deva's well-being. Upon entering the residence, Deva was found dead in her room.
Krishna, who had witnessed the couple's repeated arguments earlier in the day, informed the police that Deva and Vaishnav had visited her residence that morning. Vaishnav expressed suspicions that Deva was communicating with someone else through her phone, which led to heated disputes. Despite Krishna's attempts to mediate and calm tensions, the couple left around 1 pm.
Investigations revealed that Vaishnav confessed to the crime. He admitted to attacking Deva, citing his suspicions that she was involved with another person despite his repeated warnings. Vaishnav and Deva had met in Kerala through mutual friends, eventually falling in love and cohabiting. They had been living together for three years and engaged in share market trading and marketing. The couple had relocated to Bengaluru approximately one-and-a-half years ago.

Mumbai (PTI): Ryan Rickelton's whirlwind unbeaten ton was overshadowed by Heinrich Klaasen's unbeaten 65 as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Mumbai Indians by six wickets in an IPL match here on Wednesday.
Chasing an imposing 244-run target, Travis Head (76 off 30) and Abhishek Sharma (45 off 24) shared 129 runs for the opening wicket to set the platform for SRH.
Klaasen (65 not out off 30 balls) then displayed his all-round hitting abilities to guide SRH home with the help of Nitish Kumar Reddy (21) and Salil Arora (30 not out off 10) in 18.4 overs.
Earlier, Rickelton's knock powered MI to 243 for five.
MI rode on a 93-run stand between Rickelton (123 not out off 55 balls) and Will Jacks (46 off 22) in 7.1 overs for the opening stand to power the side.
MI skipper Hardik Pandya scored a valuable 31 off 15 balls before being dismissed.
Praful Hinge (2/54), Eshan Malinga (1/29), Sakib Hasan (1/39) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (1/31) were the wicket-takers for SRH.
