Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police have launched a manhunt for a history-sheeter who stabbed four people in Indiranagar without provocation on the night of 8 February. The suspect, identified as Kadamba, has six criminal cases against him and is known for picking petty quarrels.

The incidents occurred between 9:30 pm and 10:00 pm on 100 Feet Road. Kadamba allegedly attacked Jashwanth P (19), Mahesh Sitapati S (23), Deepak Kumar Varma (24), and Tammaiah (44) in their neck and jaw region using a sharp object, likely a pocket knife. Jashwanth was stabbed for taking a wrong turn, Sitapati for not responding to a question, and the two pani puri vendors were reportedly attacked over food availability and bill payment.

In the early hours of 9 February, Kadamba attacked a motorist, Adil (24), near 80 Feet Road around 2:30 am. Though he failed to stab him, he fled with Adil’s Suzuki Access scooter after initially asking for a drop to KR Puram Railway Station.

Police have traced Kadamba to Hoskote. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) D Devaraj, he was spotted at a medical store seeking money for food. CCTV footage confirmed his presence in the area along with the stolen scooter.

A resident of a slum in Old Binnamangala, Kadamba has previous cases related to house break-in, assault, and robbery. A rowdy sheet was opened against him at Indiranagar police station in May 2024. Police had initiated preventive measures, including a ₹1 lakh bond for good behaviour. However, he allegedly fought with his family over money for alcohol before going on the stabbing spree.

The Indiranagar police have registered five FIRs and launched an investigation under s. 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempted murder. Four teams have been formed to track and apprehend the suspect.

Kolkata (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s helicopter failed to land at the Taherpur helipad in West Bengal owing to low visibility on account of dense fog in the area on Saturday, an official said.

The PM’s chopper made a U-turn after hovering over the helipad ground for a while and returned to the Kolkata airport, he said.

Till reports last received, the Prime Minister was waiting at the airport for further updates on the weather situation.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Modi would reach the rally venue district by road or whether he would wait for the weather to clear up and make another attempt to reach Taherpur by the aerial route, the official said.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister reached Kolkata at around 10.40 am and took a chopper onward to Taherpur in Nadia district, where he is scheduled to hold an administrative programme to launch highway projects in West Bengal, followed by a political rally of the BJP, titled Parivartan Sankalpa Sabha, which he is supposed to address.
