New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry on Thursday accorded 'Z' plus security cover, which will comprise of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel for senior BJP leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa.

Yediyurappa will receive enhanced security exclusively within the state of Karnataka, with CRPF personnel set to take charge soon. This decision was made in response to information obtained from an Intelligence Bureau threat assessment report, which has been conveyed to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The report suggests that Yediyurappa is under threat from extremist groups within Karnataka. Sources said that CRPF personnel will provide security wherever he travels in the state.

The development comes after Yediyurappa’s recent announcement of touring the state with other leaders of the party to highlight the failures of the state Congress government to the people and further strengthen the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
