Bengaluru: Karnataka Horticulture Minister Munirathna has declared that he has withdrawn the idea of making a movie on legendary heroes Urigowda and Nanjegowda, following a political and also societal difference in opinion.
Munirathna, who spoke to reporters on Monday morning, said that he had visited the Adichunchanagiri Mutt and met the seer Sri Nirmalananda Swami. “I would not like to make statements that hurt people’s sentiments. Behaving in such a lowly manner is also not my nature. I have, therefore, dropped the idea of not only making a biopic on Urigowda and Nanjegowda but also speaking on the matter from now,” he clarified.
The minister, who owns the ‘Vrushabhadri Productions’ studio, had earlier said that he wished to make a biopic the legendary Vokkaliga heroes, who killed Tipu Sultan, as claimed by the BJP. He had also gotten the name of the biopic registered following the arguments on the chieftains and declared the date of launch of shooting.
Following the advice by the Adichunchanagiri Mutt seer, however, Munirathna has withdrawn his plans of the biopic.
